Project/UnitDescription
This position will be supporting the Threat Systems Branch (TSB) within the Systems Development Division (SDD) of the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems (ATAS) Lab at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). SDD designs and builds full-scale, high-fidelity threat radar simulators that are deployed to military test and training ranges. The Threat Systems Branch consists of a team of engineers who perform threat analysis, threat hardware exploitation, radar system design and test, as well as field support for threat radars.
JobPurpose
Designs, develops, analyzes, and tests Radio Frequency (RF) hardware, including antenna, transmitter, and receiver hardware. Designs and develops RF hardware as part of a system architecture over a range of frequencies from 3 kHz to 300 GHz. Analyzes RF hardware performance with modeling and simulation tools, including electromagnetic computational codes. Characterizes and tests RF hardware performance in a stand‑alone laboratory environment and in an installed system environment.
Prototypes RF hardware and systems to determine design feasibility. Integrates COTS and custom designed RF hardware into large‑scale systems. Plans and conducts RF hardware component tests and system level testing in a lab and on installed systems to verify specification compliance and system performance.

Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program relevant to this position will be considered. The candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December 2026.
- High power vacuum tube amplifiers (TWTs, klystrons) for radar transmitters.
- Radar antenna design, analysis and test.
- Radio Frequency test and measurement.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering.
- VLF, LF, and HF analysis, test and measurement.
- Antenna design tools (FEKO, HFSS).
- Phased array antenna analysis.
- PCB design tools (Altium, Eagle).
- CAD design tools (Solid Works, Blender).
- Programming tools (Python, MATLAB, VHDL, assembly).
- Relay logic analysis.
