Project/Unit DescriptionGTRI's Systems Engineering Research Division in the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) seeks a Modeling and Simulation Engineer for the Methods and Analysis Development Branch (MAD).
Job PurposeThe M&S Engineer works closely with research, development, and testing teams to combine simulation modeling with data analytics to optimize system designs. Responsibilities include constructing, verifying, and validating simulation models, performing experiments, providing recommendations, and improving systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop critical M&S inputs, including framework definition, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis and implementation
- Conduct product or system design analysis translating requirements into valid models and experimental designs for systems of moderate complexity
- Contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes
- Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements
- Implement approaches that foster reusability of existing M&S expressions
- Understand new domains of interest to customers to provide or use decision‑support models, simulations, or analyses
- Develop tailored visualizations and user interfaces to support sponsor or SME decision making activities
- Maintain proficiency in Modeling and Simulation, Decision Support, and related fields in Operations Research and Systems Analysis
- Collaborate with other researchers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Design, implement, and execute automated unit and integration tests to verify framework functionality
- Lead development of new technical principles, theories, and concepts and solve complex technical problems
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, AFSIM and/or other M&S platforms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to convey highly technical material to a non‑technical audience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams of government sponsors and researchers
- Experience developing and delivering technical briefings
- Experience creating and analyzing aerospace vehicle simulations, 6
DOF models, or related physical models
Less than 10% travel.
Education and Length of ExperienceLevels 3, 4. 3 years of related experience with a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline. 0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in the same fields.
U.S. Citizenship RequirementsCandidates must be U.S. Citizens.
Security ClearanceCandidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
