Job Summary

The Finance Manager is a support role with management tasks to the plant manager and facility within our enterprise organization. This position will oversee all financial and accounting activities at their assigned manufacturing facility. This role requires a thorough understanding of financial principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the plant’s financial health and compliance with company policies and regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for product costing, determining preliminary costing of products, finalizing margins, and defending assumptions. Use estimates and assumptions to calculate profit margins, determine the impact of events on costs and mitigate loss.
  • Manage and report manufacturing variables, using Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports to monitor labor usage and yields. Create concise management reports of variances.
  • Participate in updating annual standards, using new budgets to create new/updated standards for all products.
  • Perform ongoing inventory monitoring including daily cycle / monthly physical counts, monthly reporting of variance explanations.
  • Perform monthly tracking of overhead expenses.
  • Conduct as needed analysis and completion of special projects, including capital expenditure (Capex) approvals. Apply knowledge of company-wide performance of plant operations.
  • Present data in reports, ensuring all groups understand their sales performance/cost metrics requirements.
  • Communicate and carry out higher level functions internally across most or all departments, including with Sales to understand product needs and required margins.
  • Function as a liaison between Finance and Operations to communicate and defend margins and to influence and find operational savings. Work collaboratively with Operations on budgeting and lowering of costs at all manufacturing levels.
  • Responsible for all financial closing processes related to the site.
  • Prepare financial analyses of operations, with supporting schedules for the guidance of management, ensuring that financial reporting is accurate.
  • Recommend, develop, implement, and maintain department processes, policies, and procedures. Ensure all work is compliant with company, State and Federal accounting practices, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage an understanding of costing in system and recommend adjustments when processes change.
  • Apply knowledge of industry/company products and manufacturing processes in all aspects of work.
  • May be responsible for one or more as assigned direct reports.
  • Additional responsibilities, projects and duties assigned or necessary.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, plant manufacturing environment, and cost accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Fixed Asset Management.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, efficient in accomplishing daily tasks.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent knowledge of budgeting, inventory, cost control and financial management.
  • Ability to communicate both professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office with Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, company policies and industry standards.
  • ERP experience is preferred, SAGE is a plus.
Work Environment

This position operates in both an office manufacturing plant environment. The employee may be exposed to facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
