Description:
Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.
Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams according to department procedures.
Possesses the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in utilizing equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases.
Able to independently perform job functions.
Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures.
Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media to prevent patient condition deterioration and unnecessary pain.
Ensures all studies have proper patient identification.
Reviews images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations effectively.
Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
Observes patient condition and evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary.
Verifies correct identity of patient prior to performing a procedure according to policy and procedure.
Ensures patient's privacy and comfort, maintaining dignity throughout the exam/procedure.
Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patients' age.
Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
Understands, demonstrates, and documents pre-procedure verification and Time Out processes when appropriate.
Demonstrates understanding of pre-and post-procedural care.
Preps patients for procedures and demonstrates sterile technique.
Prepares trays and catheters for procedures and participates in biopsies if applicable.
Demonstrates proficiency on applicable systems.
Prepares and may administer contrast media while verifying orders and checking patient GFR and dosing.
Uses appropriate safety devices to protect patients' hearing during exams.
Understands anatomical positioning, correct labeling of body parts, and infant immobilization techniques.
Possesses knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, including all appropriate anatomy.
Utilizes critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique to ensure optimal study outcomes while maintaining image quality.
Reports problems with malfunctioning equipment to supervisors or service providers.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection control policies.
Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.
Addresses patients' questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Ensures required documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology.
Reads email daily and follows through with assignments.
Completes mandatory departmental and education requirements without prompting.
Produces acceptable images and follows established exam protocols.
Checks equipment for proper operational status prior to each use.
Sends all studies to the appropriate system immediately after completion.
Maintains MRI suite in a safe environment.
Restocks linens and supplies and ensures the department is clean and orderly.
Transports patients, positions patients, and assists them on and off the procedure table.
Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered.
Applies supportive and immobilization devices and equipment.
Provides assistance to others upon request as needed.
Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel to ensure continuity and quality of services when warranted.
Keeps supervisors informed about ongoing responsibilities, ensuring prompt notification of problems.
Maintains individual productivity rates equal to co-workers.
Operates all workstations associated with the MRI scanner.
Maintains Joint Commission standards and any other regulatory agency standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all applicable policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
