Database Administrator, Data Engineer
Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support KITS and our government customer in Carson, CA. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. The customer may need support at other locations:
Columbus, OH;
Bedford, MA;
Fort Lee, VA;
Smyrna, GA.

Responsibilities Technology Experience- Experience in MS SQL in an enterprise environment supporting multiple databases, Oracle Database, and Oracle Grid Controllers Database with primary and stand‑by sites, Informatica, and the customer’s Data Center Servers.
- Install, configure, and maintain production, development and test database instances.
- Manage complex schemas that support contract management and financial tracking applications.
- Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools to optimize SQL queries, indexing and memory allocation to ensure low‑latency response times for end‑users.
- Apply DISA STIGs to the database layer.
- Implement encryption at rest and in transit, manage Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and ensure strict adherence to the Principle of Least Privilege.
- Develop and test rigorous backup and recovery strategies (e.g., Oracle RMAN, SQL Server Always‑On Availability Groups) to meet the agency’s Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
- Support the migration of on‑premises databases to Azure Government Cloud (e.g., Azure SQL Managed Instance).
- Most roles require at least a Secret clearance, with some requiring Top Secret (TS/SCI) depending on the sensitivity of the systems.
- Must meet IAT Level II or III. Typically requires Security+ CE plus a professional database certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
- 8–12 years of experience in enterprise database administration, with significant experience in a federal or DoD environment.
- Deep knowledge of PL/SQL or T‑SQL, database clustering, partitioning, and virtualization technologies.
