Summary: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
- Independently manage a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- Demonstrate leadership and collaborate with the Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.
- Order and interpret labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services.
- Provide education to patients and their families.
- Assess and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

- Licensed independent Nurse Practitioner with advanced education and national certification.
- 1 full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Working availability:
Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (varying tours). - Telework:
Not available; this position is non‑virtual. - Authorization for relocation or recruitment incentives may be granted for highly qualified candidates. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply for incentives.
- Competitive salary with regular increases and potential performance awards.
- Paid Time Off: 50 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays).
- Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution. - Insurance:
Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). - Permanent Change of Station (PCS):
Not authorized.
