Position: Registered Nurse(RN)- Acute Care- Med Surg/Post Surgical Fulltime Day Shift7a-7p

Job Summary

Full‑time day shift (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) at the Paulding campus. 28‑bed medical‑surgical unit with post‑surgical, telemetry, and general med‑surg focus. Designed as a Magnet‑designated, 4‑Star CMS scoring unit, Prism award‑winning floor dedicated to exceptional patient care, high empathy, and positive energy.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Deliver Exemplary Nursing Care – Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence‑based practice. Provide individualized, relationship‑based, culturally sensitive, and patient‑centered care. Collaborate with the patient and significant others to set goals and deliver bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, and timely patient teaching.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration – Coordinate safe quality patient care and documentation. Practice fiscal responsibility and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. Support performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all levels.
  • Professional Development and Initiative – Complete mandatory competency assessments and required education. Serve as preceptor or mentor for nurses, students, and staff, fostering a qualified workforce and healthy work environment.
  • Evidence‑Based Practice and Research – Promote evidence‑based practice and nursing research. Participate in value analysis, data collection, and use evidence to address practice questions.
  • Resources and Support – Plan patient care across the continuum. Participate in protocol and procedure development to achieve best‑practice outcomes such as decreased readmissions and adverse events.
  • Additional Duties – Perform any other duties as assigned and comply with Wellstar policies and code of conduct.

    Minimum Education
    • Associate’s degree in Nursing or Diploma (RN)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred
    Required Minimum Licensure and Certification
    • Registered Nurse (RN) – single state or RN‑Compact (multi‑state)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent (ARC‑BLS or BLS‑I)
    Required Minimum Experience

    Minimum two years of direct patient care nursing experience.

    Required Minimum Skills
    • Proficient written and verbal communication in English
    • Basic computer and technology skills to support clinical care
    • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer‑service skills
    • Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect
    • Excellent time‑management, analytical, and critical‑thinking abilities
