Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

We are hiring an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for our Smyrna, GA manufacturing facility for 1st shift (7am -- 3pm). Flexibility required based on operational needs and availability.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuild work on all plant equipment, including high-speed envelope production and ancillary equipment, while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Utilizes advanced mechanical expertise to diagnose complex issues, execute equipment rebuilds, and support continuous operation of manufacturing systems. Support equipment improvements as assigned. Electrical and PLC experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to install, maintain, and repair plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist production personnel with diagnostics and repairs
  • Operate machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, drill presses, welding, and cutting tools
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system issues and perform necessary repairs or installations
  • Monitor, schedule, and document preventive maintenance activities to ensure reliable equipment operation
  • Research, source, and requisition replacement parts and materials as needed
  • Perform required facility and equipment safety inspections/maintenance as required
  • Follow safety procedures and complete required documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs

Pay & Work Schedule

  • Hourly Rate: $27 -- 32/hr (based on experience)
  • Monday -- Friday;
    Saturdays required during peak production/business needs dictate
  • Shift: 1st shift (7am -- 3pm); flexibility required

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
  • 3+ years of hands on industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (printing, envelope, or paper converting preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience maintaining high speed production equipment and performing preventive maintenance
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems; PLC troubleshooting preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety, quality, and accuracy
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation
  • Reliable, self directed, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime and alternate shifts as required

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined or elevated areas
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and push or pull equipment as needed
  • Requires strong manual dexterity and frequent use of hands and tools
  • Must have adequate vision, including color recognition, depth perception, and close visual focus
  • Exposure to industrial noise, moving machinery, inks, solvents, adhesives, dust, and temperature variations
  • Work performed around high speed equipment, electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic components
  • Required to wear PPE including safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and gloves as applicable
  • Must remain alert and attentive to safely perform functions for a full shift
