Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow we have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic.
The role is to perform heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite at customer locations, develop relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quota, increase sales to assigned accounts in a designated territory, and analyze customer operations to uncover opportunities for additional service sales.
Responsibilities- Performs routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components with general supervision.
- Coordinates customer repair orders with the Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment and with the Service Advisor for proper scheduling of all mobile maintenance work.
- Advises customers of needed service work and suggests additional labor, parts, and body‑shop sales whenever possible (e.g., preventive‑maintenance inspections, related service work).
- Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses required safety equipment, responds to safety suggestions, and seeks assistance when necessary; ensures proper safety, care, and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to the technician; reports any damage to company or customer equipment or property immediately to supervisor.
- Maintains favorable relations with customers.
- Creates and closes repair orders in the MHC business system to document the work performed and time spent; completes paperwork as required.
- Controls business expenses within the approved expense budget and is responsible for tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
- Oversees operations of assigned customers in the territory, regularly calls upon key accounts, introduces preventive‑maintenance items, new products and promotions, reemphasizes existing products and services, and provides literature when necessary.
- Is responsible for achieving labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive role. Performing duties while under the influence of marijuana or any other illegal drug may pose a threat to health or safety and could result in injury, illness, or death.
Qualifications- Minimum three years’ heavy‑duty truck repair experience.
- A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required;
Engine and Component certifications are a plus. - Self‑motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and ability to perform quality repairs.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
- Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
- Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.
