As an Asphalt Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of asphalt paving projects, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role involves managing crews, equipment, and materials, as well as ensuring compliance with project specifications, company standards, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and supervise all aspects of asphalt paving projects.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Monitor project progress, adjusting schedules and operations as necessary to meet deadlines.
- Direct and supervise the work of asphalt paving crews, ensuring efficient and effective performance.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards and complies with project specifications and quality requirements.
- Inspect completed work and manage any required corrective actions.
- Manage the allocation and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Maintain inventory levels and order materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, timecards, and material usage.
- Provide regular updates to management on project status, including any issues or delays.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure all crew members adhere to safety protocols.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in asphalt paving or construction supervision.
- Proven track record of successfully managing asphalt paving projects from start to finish.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and basic computer skills.
- In-depth knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
