PAY & BENEFITS
Pay begins at $79,021.47 for Project Coordinator (Public Works) and is based upon applicable experience.
In addition to the base salary, this full-time position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus.

DESCRIPTIONThe purpose of this classification is to perform technical, administrative, and field coordination work associated with managing and inspecting Public Works capital improvement and infrastructure projects for the Town of Smyrna. Responsibilities include conducting inspections of roadway, drainage, stormwater, traffic control, and related construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, regulations, and safety standards; assisting with plan and specification review;
coordinating schedules, meetings, project documentation, and day‑to‑day project activities; tracking project costs; maintaining records and filing systems; responding to contractor and public inquiries; and performing related duties as assigned. Work also involves promoting safe work practices, maintaining equipment and work areas, and supporting departmental operations as needed. Reports to the Public Works Director or other assigned supervisor.

- Performs technical inspections and field oversight for Public Works capital improvement and infrastructure projects, including roadway construction, drainage and stormwater systems, traffic control, and related site improvements. Ensures all work complies with approved plans, applicable regulations, safety standards, and Town of Smyrna requirements. Conducts inspections of driveway curb-cuts and other public infrastructure modifications as needed to verify compliance with Town standards.
- Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to provide clear, traceable and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawings for construction.
- Coordinates the day‑to‑day operations of Capital Projects on behalf of the project construction management team, from feasibility through turnover.
- Responsible for project cost tracking for all construction related projects.
- Represent project manager at appointments and meetings as necessary, such as Construction punch lists or move events.
- Coordinate meeting scheduling and calendar coordination and assist Director with client correspondence.
- Prepare design and construction schedules to meet customer and Client Project Manager (PM) requirements.
- Work closely with Public Works and Engineering Managers to ensure optimum project efficiency and profitability on all projects.
- Coordinate and maintain the construction schedule for bid and proposal preparation.
- Establishes, develops, maintains, and updates filing system for the department and retrieves information from files when needed.
- Organizes and prioritizes large volume of information and calls.
- Documents results of inspections for construction projects; submits results to Public Works Director for bond status to be reviewed.
- Completes records in a timely manner of all inspections performed.
- Answers questions in office and field regarding the appropriate Subdivision Regulations and storm water requirements to ensure compliance.
