Job Summary

Innovative Teacher Leader is for a classroom teacher who is interested in a leadership role but does not aspire to be an administrator. The position is designed for an experienced educator who balances classroom excellence with school-wide leadership. This professional guides new teachers in a mentor role and provides guidance for the county curriculum team for district wide initiatives. In addition to classroom duties, this role bridges the gap between county-level curriculum initiatives and school-level execution by mentoring peers, providing instructional support, and piloting cutting-edge educational strategies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
School Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Serve actively on the school leadership team to help shape the school's academic vision, culture, and strategic goals.
  • Act as a liaison between administration and instructional staff to champion innovative practices.
  • Provide direction and collaborative input for county curriculum team initiatives, ensuring local school alignment with district goals.
  • Attend all 10 mandated innovative teacher training sessions and professional development workshops to stay at the forefront of modern pedagogy.
  • Translate district curriculum changes into actionable classroom strategies for peers.
  • Serve as a certified mentor to guide new and developing educators.
  • Offer hands‑on instructional coaching
    , co‑teaching opportunities, and peer observations to support colleagues in adopting innovative teaching methods.
  • Model advanced instructional strategies
    , including technology integration, data‑driven differentiation, and student‑centered learning.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Leadership Track Record: Proven experience serving on a school leadership team or in an equivalent building‑level leadership capacity.
  • Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification.
  • Mentorship Credential: Current Certified Mentor status
    , or an explicit commitment to earn mentor certification upon hire.
  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, including a requirement to attend all 10 specialized innovative teacher trainings
    . Work after hours will be required based on the sessions in the leadership program.

Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations, have been dismissed or had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district will not be considered eligible for consideration
