The RoleThe Mining Engineer is primarily responsible to develop daily and weekly plans, designs and schedules and to ensure that all the required designs are ready on a timely manner for the execution of the plan and aligned in such a way as to reduce departmental interactions in the mine and promote efficient work scheduling.
Key Accountabilities- Adhere to all MSHA regulatory and company standards
- Must have a safety- first mindset; leading the way to a safe work environment
- Promote and assist in maintaining a positive work culture
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
- Developing the weekly (7+21) plan to achieve the Rolling 3-month plan (RoFo)
- Generating drill and blast designs
- Developing short terms level designs
- Developing waste/back filling plans if required
- Work closely with Mine Operations, Geology, Survey, Geotech and Mine Design when developing the mine plans and schedule
- Undertaking regular Underground site visits to ensure that execution is compliant to the plan
- Attend safety meetings and demonstrate safely leadership
- Assist in development of SOPs and JSEA procedures
- Work closely with senior mine planner to ensure that the 7+21 plan is complaint to the ROFO plan
- Work closely with the engineering, geology and Mine Operations team to develop a robust mine plans, designs and schedules
- 1-2 Years in Mining Engineering in an underground environment
- Tertiary Qualifications in a Mining Related Discipline
- Experience in driving best practice through your department and into the business.
- Ability to understand functionality of business systems and extract relevant data for business purposes
- Track record in driving continuous improvement
- Preference for experience in Deswik
