Pay & Benefits
Pay begins at $52,881.38 yearly salary for a WWTP Operator III and is dependent upon applicable experience. The position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus.
- Paid Holidays: 13 days

The purpose of this classification is to access and properly operate all process equipment and lift stations, above and below ground level. Duties and responsibilities include performing all necessary operational and maintenance duties of the wastewater treatment plant; operating a computer using a Windows environment, using spreadsheets, word processors, and utilizing a computerized SCADA system. Under general supervision, reports to Lead Operator.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Monitors plant operations regularly for proper operation and treatment. Makes any changes as required by the standard operating procedures and to communicate all plant conditions to the chief operator and lead operator as conditions warrant.
- Requires the ability to recognize and diagnose plant status and the ability to troubleshoot and perform corrective actions of the plant operations to ensure effluent quality meets or exceeds the standards of EPA and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
- Performs necessary laboratory work required for observation and control of the wastewater treatment plant in order to meet treatment plant State and Federal regulations.
- Performs some maintenance of equipment related to operations of the wastewater treatment plant and lift stations, including calibration of chemical feed pumps and instruments.
- Operates a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system.
- Enters and updates files on a computer for preparing reports, spreadsheets, historical information, and maintenance records.
- Maintains sanitary cleanliness of work areas, the treatment plant, and associated facilities.
- Maintains records in compliance with Federal, State, and Town regulations.
- Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and Town regulations. Reports any accidents immediately to the supervisor.
- Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
- Any other duties as assigned by the chief operator or plant manager.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must have a valid Tennessee Commercial Drivers License or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
- Must have a Grade III Wastewater Certificate or ability to obtain within eighteen months.
- One year of experience in a related field or associate degree in a related field or combination.
- Must be able to wear mandatory safety equipment.
