Neonatal/ NICU Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Obstetrics, Pediatric Nurse
Registered Nurse Labor & Delivery
This position involves caring for patients in a Labor and Delivery unit. The unit has a capacity of 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, and 2 operating rooms. Patient ratios are 1:2. The staffing includes unit secretaries and scrub tech availability, with dedicated midwives and anesthesia providers in-house 24/7. OB specialists are available on call. The documentation system used is CPN and Meditech.
Staff is expected to work 4 weekend shifts per month. Floating may occur to maternity/baby or outside department to help with tasks. The unit aims to remain above 75% in patient experience metrics. Advanced skills in performing procedures such as circulating in the operating room, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC), fetal scalp electrode (FSE), magnesium sulfate administration, postpartum hemorrhage management, and nitrous oxide use are beneficial.
The facility has a couplet care approach in the postpartum unit, allowing newborns to remain with their parents and promoting breastfeeding. Donor milk is available when needed. An 8-bed Level 2 NICU with a neonatal nurse practitioner is dedicated to the unit 24/7. The neonatal nurse practitioner is available to assist with all high-risk deliveries.
