The Quality Manager oversees all activities within the Quality Control department in an automotive manufacturing assembly environment. This role coordinates QC Technicians through Quality Area Managers, partners closely with Quality Engineers and customers, and ensures that new and existing parts consistently meet established quality standards. The Quality Manager maintains a safe, organized work area, supports the manufacturing process, and drives continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate all activities of QC Technicians through Quality Area Managers to ensure effective execution of quality control processes.
Serve as a direct interface with Quality Engineers, other Quality Managers, and customers to address quality concerns and support customer satisfaction.
Observe and follow all rules, regulations, and company policies related to quality, safety, and operations.
Maintain a safe and orderly work area by implementing and sustaining 5S practices.
Supervise all Quality Area Managers and Quality Engineers within the Quality Control department, providing guidance, direction, and performance oversight.
Manage quality for new or revised parts, including SIR documentation and actions required to secure parts approval.
Assist in establishing inspection procedures to evaluate conformance to defined quality standards.
Inspect all design changes and new model trials to confirm they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
Support the implementation of quality standards by working closely with the Quality Control Manager, Quality Engineers, Area Managers, and Technicians.
Coordinate overtime activities as needed to support production schedules and the manufacturing process while maintaining quality standards.
Develop and drive cost reduction activities within the scope of the position and in collaboration with individual departments.
Perform regular audits of Quality Engineers to ensure adherence to quality procedures, documentation requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to root cause analysis efforts to identify, address, and prevent recurring quality issues.
Minimum of 2–4 years of automotive manufacturing quality control experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Experience in quality engineering and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service and customer satisfaction.
Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of Quality Area Managers, Quality Engineers, and QC Technicians.
Capability to establish and follow inspection procedures and quality standards for new and revised parts.
Proven ability to perform audits and enforce compliance with quality processes and documentation.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to maintain a safe, organized work area using 5S principles.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Technology is preferred.
Other fields of study may be considered with relevant automotive manufacturing and quality experience.
Experience working directly with customers on quality-related topics and approvals.
Familiarity with automotive OEM quality expectations and processes.
Ability to support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining or improving quality standards.
This role is based onsite at an automotive manufacturing assembly plant within an OEM environment. The position operates on 2nd shift, typically from 6:00 p.m. to 2:45 a.m. The work involves close collaboration with production and quality teams on the shop floor, using established quality control tools, inspection procedures, and documentation systems. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, requiring adherence to safety protocols and 5S standards to keep work areas clean, organized, and efficient.
