Fire Alarm Technician

Description

TEKsystems is looking for a lead fire alarm technician to assist with the rebuild of their Nashville office. This technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing fire alarm systems.

• Program, start-up, troubleshoot and commission new system installations.
• Perform basic point‑to‑point troubleshooting on Fire Alarms, Access Control Systems, CCTV, Nurse Calls, Intercom systems and other systems as required.
• Clearly communicate with project lead and client on project status, challenges, and completion dates.
• Assist with installation projects, providing direction for a successful installation.
• Identify installation or system issues to project lead.
• Review contract and design documents related to the project for accuracy prior to installation.
• Perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed and working according to code.
• Complete detailed project reports.
• Respond to emergency service calls.
• Maintain strong written and oral communication skills for both internal and external clients.
• Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure successful resolution to customer requirements in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
• Work rotating on‑call schedule as required.
• Be available for on‑site work during regular business hours and as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Fire alarm

• Knowledge of low voltage systems, including Fire Alarms, Access Control Systems, CCTV, Nurse Calls, and Intercom systems.
• Possess both technical and computer skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to use lifts for work exceeding ladder limitations.
• Ability to regularly carry and climb an 8’ or taller ladder.
• Experience with hand tools and multi‑meter usage.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and parts manuals to determine proper installation.
• Comfortable reporting to a Project Manager and providing necessary information.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.

Expert Level

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN.

• The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
