Charge RN - Cardiac Care, Full Time Nights


* Sign on Bonus Available up to $15,000

Piedmont Eastside, Snellville, GA

This 18-bed cardiac unit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients. The typical patient population includes patients with chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, pulmonary embolism and/or DVT, and patients that have had AAA repair and carotid endarterectomy. Our unit is an intermediate/step‑down unit. The nurse‑to‑patient ratio is typically 1:4 when caring for these patients. Nursing staff work closely with cardiology and vascular teams to ensure exceptional care for our patients.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during one’s shift. Provide clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicate patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to appropriate leaders. Serve as a resource for guidance and assistance to staff.

  • Coordinate delivery of quality nursing care to include facilitating patient flow in coordination with Bed Control, Patient Access, or Administrative Supervisor to include triage, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Monitor patient care delivery, including appropriate implementation of protocol, administration of medications, and treatment modalities.
  • Communicate patient flow/patient care issues to appropriate physician and/or clinical manager.
  • Coordinate issues of diversion, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate equitable distribution of staff assignments based on skill mix, staffing levels, patient diagnosis, volume, and acuity. Adjust assignments as needed during the shift.
  • Fairly and equitably administer departmental and hospital policies.
  • Assist the clinical manager, as necessary, to ensure appropriate staffing levels and most efficient use of staffing plan.
  • Monitor census and appropriately anticipate the need to assume clinical role as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of clinical competency in administering nursing care, including accurate determination of patient acuity and implementing appropriate medical response to include use of protocols, policies, and pathways.
  • Promptly report issues that cannot be resolved during the shift to clinical manager, with suggestions for resolution.
  • Ensure that system issues involving other departments, that can cause decreased quality of care or productivity, are reported to the clinical manager.
  • Promote customer satisfaction by responding to service issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Serve as a resource and a role model for the nursing and ancillary staff on the unit.

    Qualifications
    • Graduate of a nursing program.
    • One (1) year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required.
    • Current license in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
    • BLS certification required.
    • Two (2) or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum).
    • Demonstrated clinical competency.
