Location: Hidden River Middle School

Anticipated start date: 9-3-25

Days per year: 180

Hours per day: 6.5

Shift time: 7:35-2:35

Position Info: Current PSE members must apply within 5 days to be guaranteed consideration for position. This position will work with one student the whole day.

TITLE: Behavior Technician

REPORTS TO: Chief Student Services Officer’s Designee/Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a behavior specialist or Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), perform skilled, confidential support and assistance to classroom teachers and staff for students who demonstrate challenging behaviors in order to help these students access their education in the least restrictive environment.

Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Preferred: AA degree or higher, or two years of college (72 quarter credits).
  • Preferred: BA in human services-related degree program
  • Preferred:
    Current Certified Behavior Technician (obtained through the state of Washington) and/or Registered behavior Technician (obtained through Behavior Analyst Certification Board) certificate.
  • Previous experience working with school-age children with special needs.
  • Currently certified in a de-escalation training program such as CPI, Right Response, Safety care or willingness to attend district sponsored training and become certified within 30 days of employment.
Special Requirements
  • Valid First Aid/CPR card
  • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
  • I‑9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
  • Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)

  • Skilled in the use of behavior management strategies and positive behavior interventions and trauma informed practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage student behavior.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible in responding to changing student and staff needs.
Position Responsibilities
  • Provide educational support, in the form of skills instruction in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching, challenging behavior reduction protocols, and other evidenced‑based strategies based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Assist BCBA and teachers with monitoring and managing student progress through data and data analysis.
  • Assist the district BCBA with staff trainings both in and out of the classroom.
  • Collect, record and summarize data on observable client behavior and communicate findings to BCBA and IEP team members as required.
