Job Summary

Under the direction of the Building Administrator and classroom teacher, the Para educator A supports the elementary educational process and provides specialized support for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Valley View Middle School. Responsibilities include assistance in the Family and Consumer Science Department, shopping, purchasing, stocking materials, organizing labs, supervising lunch, and other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule
  • Start Date:

    September 1, 2026
  • Shift: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.;
    Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Lunch Break: 30 minutes, unpaid
  • Calendar: 9 months per year; time off during winter break, spring break, summer, plus 10 paid holidays
Qualifications
  • At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet one of the following:
    • Score of 455 on the ETS Para Pro or qualifying score on Pearson Paraprofessional assessment or Master Teacher Inc. Para educator Training Program.
    • Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
    • Earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
  • Upon hire, complete the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) – Para educator Certificate.
  • Upon hire, willingness to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Ability to meet the qualifications listed on the job description.
Special Duties

Support the CTE program, assist in the Family and Consumer Science Department, and other assigned duties.

Salary Range

$27.38 – $31.13 per hour (Para educator A per 2026-27 Public School Employees Salary Schedule). Pay rates do not include holiday pay or pay in lieu of vacation; hourly compensation increases accordingly.
