Para educator – 1:1 (Specialized Instruction) – 2 positions available @ CLE #1673
Starting Date: Sep 9, 2026
Location: Chain Lake Elementary, Monroe, Washington
Hours per day: 6.5 (8:40‑3:40)
Days per year: 180
Pay: $28.53 to $33.13 per hour (25‑26 salary schedule)
Position Summary: Under supervision, perform a variety of instructional activities; assist in promoting student learning; perform routine and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; and complete other related work as required within a collaborative team.
Qualifications- Minimum 18 years of age and high‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited college/university OR 72 quarter / 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; OR completion of a recognized para educator apprenticeship; OR passing score on one of the PESB approved assessments.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
- Completion of all state‑required para educator certifications.
- Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint clearance.
- I‑9 employment eligibility.
- HIV/HBV training within 60 days of hire (provided by District).
- Human Resources new‑hire training within 60 days of hire (provided by District).
- Positive Behavior Support (PBS) or Structured Learning Center (SLC) certification if required for the specific position.
- Strong knowledge of child growth and development, student behavior management (PBIS, trauma‑informed practices), and basic arithmetic.
- Effective oral and written communication; empathy, patience, and flexibility; ability to maintain confidentiality; willingness to perform the physical requirements of the job.
- Assist instructional personnel with presentation of learning materials and delivery of instructional programs.
- Work with students across a wide range of disabilities, providing individualized support and small‑group instruction.
- Monitor and assist students during drill, practice, and study activities in accordance with the instructional program or individual Learning Plan.
- Apply positive behavior strategies and collaborate on behavior plans.
- Prepare instructional materials and learning aids as directed by the supervising teacher.
- Provide basic care to students (toileting, diapering, dressing, feeding) and perform first aid as needed.
- Maintain confidential student records and documentation.
- Operate instructional media, equipment, and technology.
- Assist with student transitions, bus transfers, and environmental safety.
- Follow district protocols for safety, reporting, and integrity.
- Maintain punctual attendance and comply with collective bargaining agreement provisions.
- Adapt to new students and their IEP goals.
