Substitute School Teacher; Contractor

Job Title

Pursuit School is located within the Pursuit Church facility near downtown Snohomish, WA, and is a part of the Pursuit NW ministry. We offer early learning through a faith-based curriculum and are excited to serve our community with our hearts and passion for Kingdom-led education.

We are here to provide children with a safe space to build relationships with other children and God. We create a community where young students can encounter the love of God and begin their walk with Him.

The Pursuit School exists to raise Kingdom changers accomplished through quality education of mind, body, and spirit.

Our goal is to nurture and train children so that they will grow in godliness of character and action. We believe that children are a gift from God to be nurtured and trained so that they may grow strong in character.

Skills and Responsibilities:

• Resourcefulness with substitute teaching by providing curriculum and other materials to provide children.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order through indirect guidance principles.
• Help establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to children while adapting teaching methods and materials to meet varying student interests.
• Monitor student behavior and assist in maintaining an orderly classroom atmosphere for the purpose of providing an optimum learning environment.
• Perform positive behavior support and management.
• Work with students individually and/or in small groups on specific learning tasks and objectives.
• Know and follow the health, safety, and emergency procedures of the school.
• Work cooperatively and communicate successfully with staff, students, and parents.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the education of all children.
• Observe strict confidentiality regarding student and personnel information.
• Demonstrate professionalism through conduct, and punctuality.

Requirements:

At least 18 years old; completion of HS Diploma or Equivalent; previous teaching experience preferred.

Must be physically able to sit or stand for periods of time.

Availability and flexibility to work between the hours of 8:15 am-6:15 pm.

Must complete Ministry Safe Child Abuse training.

Be able to pass both local and federal background checks and all policies required for volunteering at PURSUIT.

This is a contractor position; work is intermittent; there are no fringe benefits.

Be committed to a local church and loyal to its senior leadership.
