TITLE Classroom Teacher
REPORTS TO Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY
The classroom teacher, under the direction of the Building Principal, will create a program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students which facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in life, and establish good relationships and rapport with students, parents and staff members.
The teacher will document student progress, activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework and professional growth activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Valid teaching certificate for the State of Washington with required endorsement in area of assignment
- Prior experience in the school setting preferred
- Such other qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate
- Current valid CPR and First Aid may be required for the specific assignment
Special Requirements
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance
- I-9 employment eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- HIV/HBV training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
- Human Resources new hire training (obtain within 60 days of hire date – District provided)
Knowledge:
- Principles, goals and objectives of public education
- Curriculum and other developmental programs
Skills and Abilities:
- Abide by all district policies and procedures along with building/department practices
- Adhere to federal, state laws and district regulations, policies procedures and practices
- Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc.
- Abides by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement
- Observe strict confidentiality regarding student information
- Maintain regular punctual attendance
