Overview
Position Summary:
Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins. Fred Meyer requires that all associates perform tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. Responsibilities- Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short, civil liabilities and shrink; improve margins.
- Demonstrate the company s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
- Identify areas of high theft, monitor large shrink areas in stores and report incidents to the asset protection manager.
- Detect, deter and/or detain external theft suspects; initiate and encourage actions to prevent external and internal theft.
- Maintain flexibility to work any shift, overtime and weekends on a regular basis.
- Provide credible court testimony when required and assist customer and associate relations through communication and training.
- Verify compliance with corporate policies and promote company initiatives.
- Assist in reducing customer and associate dishonesty by enforcing loss prevention measures.
- Record and report incidents accurately and follow up as needed with the asset protection team.
- Support the safety and well-being of associates by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Bachelor s degree in criminal justice (preferred) or relevant education/experience; or a combination of education and experience.
- Retail security experience and/or law enforcement experience; familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes.
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience); minimum 18 years of age (21 years in Alaska).
- Ability to pass a drug test and to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality; strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures and organizational structure.
- Model customer-first behavior and deliver excellent customer service; ability to train others.
- Ability to provide credible court testimony when required.
