OverviewThe Relationship Banker will sell a full range of banking services and products to individual customers and small businesses, emphasizing meeting customer needs, providing exceptional customer service, and actively soliciting new customers. Interview consumer or commercial loan customers, process consumer loans, provide sales leadership to staff, and participate in branch external business development. Also sell complex business products such as cash management accounts.
Responsibilities- Provide customer service per Coastal's Core Values.
- Interview and assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products or services.
- Communicate with customers in the branch, over the phone, or during visits to local businesses.
- Conduct outside sales calling as required.
- Follow up by phone and raise customer awareness of bank products and services.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking follow‑ups and monitor monthly production to branch goals.
- Provide customer referrals to Treasury, Commercial, and Consumer Lending, Cash Management, and Real Estate Lending.
- Resolve customer issues and concerns promptly.
- Complete required account documentation per bank guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of banking rules and regulations and complete monthly online training.
- Build relationships with a book of customers, grow book value to meet goals, and retain clients.
- Represent Coastal positively and professionally.
- Follow and comply with all regulatory and compliance regulations.
- Outgoing, professional attitude with customers, prospects, and co‑workers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Associate’s degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
- PC experience in a Windows environment using various applications.
- Basic internet skills.
- Production generation experience preferred.
- Previous experience selling financial products.
- Previous experience growing and developing an existing customer base.
- Communicate effectively, pay close attention to detail, and prioritize personal development.
- Perform well in a goal‑oriented environment, exercising patience and persistence.
- Build long‑lasting relationships with integrity and honesty.
- Use sound judgment while making decisions and solving problems.
- Organize and strategize effectively, adapting as needed for efficiencies.
- Support teammates and practice self‑awareness and emotional intelligence.
