Electrical Trainee

You will be trusted with responsibility early. We hire adults and expect professional behavior. Apprentices at OP Electric are not simply background helpers. You are here to learn how to run a job.

Within your first 90 days, you will begin taking ownership by anticipating needs, staying organized, and keeping work moving without being asked. The habits you build here form the foundation for becoming a Journeyman, Foreman, and eventually, Owner.

We hire individuals who are hardworking, practical, and serious about building a career in the electrical trade. No prior electrical experience is required, though manual labor or mechanical experience is preferred. Initiative, accountability, and the drive to improve daily are non-negotiable.

This is a high-expectation environment. Average effort does not last.

This is hands-on, physically and mentally demanding work that requires grit, adaptability, and resilience. For the right person, it is also deeply rewarding and builds skills that last a lifetime.

You will participate in all phases of commercial and residential construction, including:

• Reading plans and understanding project layouts
• Working in trenches, attics, and crawl spaces, both new and ancient
• Installing underground and overhead conduit
• Setting switch gear, wireways, and electrical panels
• Installing devices, fixtures, and data systems

This job frequently involves:

• Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including the cold and rain
• Heavy lifting, squatting, bending, climbing, and working in physically demanding and awkward positions
• Ending the day tired, dehydrated, dirty, and knowing you earned it

This is real construction work. It is not for everyone.

• 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent
• One full year of Algebra with a grade of C or better (or equivalent coursework)
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to climb ladders/scaffolds, lift fifty pounds, and work in confined spaces
• Physically and mentally capable of performing essential job functions
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-accountability workplace
• Able to prioritize, multitask, and manage responsibilities independently
