SHIFT
Monday – Friday, 11:00 pm – 7:30 am
THE ROLEUnder general supervision, performs safety and maintenance inspections, preventive maintenance on vehicles and/or heavy landfill equipment and/or stationary equipment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections on any or all company vehicles, heavy landfill equipment and stationary equipment.
- Accurately and efficiently completes paperwork and/or computer database entries relating to the work performed, documenting parts and supply usage. Generates repair orders to communicate defects or areas of concerns for follow up and/or corrective action.
- Performs minor repairs and cleaning of components as required. Performs other maintenance related work as required by supervisor or foreman.
- Operate forklift and other yard equipment as required.
- Performs all work in accordance to company standards and policies and DOT standards for safety.
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in accordance with company policy and federal, state and local requirements.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of preventive maintenance mechanical experience with heavy vehicles.
- Waste and recycling industry experience preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of DOT Out-of-Service Criteria including CHP B.I.T. Inspections and DOT compliance audits.
- Experience working in a maintenance facility or related environment with vehicles, processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors and landfill equipment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of diesel and/or compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components and use of tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards.
- Basic computer programs.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work any assigned shift.
- Ability to promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources.
- Work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility.
- Ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity; operating with effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time.
- Ability to understand and follow health and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to build knowledge and expertise about current job by attending trainings.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and customers.
