OverviewEvery day campers participate in fun and engaging YMCA summer day camp programs. As a Lead Counselor you will lead a group of 10‑15 youth through activities like group games, crafts, STEM projects, cooking projects and more. The summer season runs June 22 through the end of August (start dates vary by location). Scheduled shifts are Monday‑Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, totaling 30‑40 hours a week.

- Assist the Camp Supervisor in training, guiding, and overseeing Camp Counselors.
- Oversee a group of up to 15 children, ensuring their health, safety, and a positive experience.
- Implement program activities and may assist in activity planning.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical and disciplinary protocols.
- Engage professionally with parents/guardians to share program information.
- Ensure equipment is clean, safe, set up, and stored properly.
- Attend staff meetings and training programs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- 18 years of age or older
- 1‑2 years experience with children (camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying)
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- Completed 12 credits of 100‑level or above college coursework or equivalent GED/high school diploma
- Demonstrated alignment with Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty
- TB test may be required depending on camp type or location
- Completion of required training: STARS, CPR/First Aid
- Clear portable background check in the statewide MERIT registry
- Training completed at hire or within 30 days of employment, or during onboarding
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- High school diploma or equivalent
