ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a passionate and collaborative choir educator to teach middle school students in grades 6–8. The position includes three choir classes—one each for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, as well as two semester-long music elective courses. The ideal candidate will plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction that builds vocal technique, music literacy, and ensemble performance skills while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities also include directing rehearsals and performances, assessing student progress, and designing creative elective offerings that expand students' musical experiences.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of best practices in both music education and general instruction, along with effective classroom management and organization skills. A collaborative mindset is essential, as our district values strong partnerships within a highly cooperative music department. Candidates with a background or experience in jazz music are strongly preferred, as they will contribute to a well‑rounded and dynamic program.
The certificated teacher, supported by building and district leadership, fosters a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes students' academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional growth. Using Washington State standards and district‑adopted curriculum, the teacher delivers high‑quality, differentiated Tier I instruction tailored to diverse learner needs. Collaborating with colleagues, they analyze student data to identify those needing Tier II supports and provide targeted interventions.
The teacher also communicates progress with families, builds positive relationships, and actively contributes to the school's Multi‑Tiered System of Supports to ensure equitable outcomes for all students.
