Position SummaryUnder the direction of a certificated staff member, assists in the delivery of educational programs to individual or small groups of students in a variety of settings. These settings include, but are not limited to, special and general education classrooms; community sites, and vocational sites on and off school campuses. Daily schedule generally includes some shifts of bus arrival/dismissal and/or lunchroom supervision.
WAState Para educator Requirements
- At least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Have received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the Para educator Board ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).); OR
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; OR
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; OR
- Have completed an apprenticeship as a para educator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
- Copy of a High School diploma or HS transcripts, or acceptable equivalent document.
- Official post secondary transcript(s).

This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, long‑term disability, basic life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance provided the assignment is anticipated to work at least 630 hours per year. - Retirement Plans:
This position is eligible for a 403(b) TSA Retirement Savings Plan. - Paid Holidays: up to 13 paid holidays per year. The number of holidays depends on employee's start and end dates.
- Paid Time Off:
Employees working 12 months per year earn 12 days of paid vacation per school year. Employees working 237–260 days per school year earn 12 days of sick leave. Up to 3 days of personal leave may be granted each school year. Vacation, sick leave, and personal leave are based on scheduled hours and position start date.
