Job Description & How to Apply Below

SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to bridge the gap between process science and scalable manufacturing in flexible PCB (FPCB) production. This role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying automation systems that transform complex, precision‑driven processes into repeatable, high‑yield, and scalable production solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in automation, mechatronics, or controls engineering, with experience integrating robotics, machine vision, and advanced process control in a high‑precision manufacturing environment.

Why This Role Matters

This role is critical in transforming FPCB manufacturing from process‑intensive craftsmanship into scalable, automated production systems—enabling faster innovation, higher quality, and competitive advantage in advanced electronics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Automation & System Development:
Design and deploy scalable, production‑ready automation systems across FPCB manufacturing processes, transforming lab or engineering concepts into robust solutions that support both high‑mix, low‑volume and high‑volume production.
  • Controls & Integration:
Develop and integrate PLC, HMI, and motion control systems while seamlessly connecting robotics, conveyors, and precision handling equipment to MES, SCADA, and data acquisition platforms for real‑time control and monitoring of flexible substrates.
  • Process Optimization & Scale‑Up:
Collaborate with process engineers to stabilize, optimize, and scale FPCB manufacturing by implementing advanced process control (APC), closed‑loop feedback, and data‑driven optimization to improve yield, throughput, OEE, and defect reduction.
  • Equipment & Technology Deployment:
Specify, design, and commission custom automation equipment, collaborating with OEMs and integrators to develop specialized FPCB machinery and leading Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Data & Smart Manufacturing:
Enable Industry 4.0 capabilities through real‑time machine data collection, predictive maintenance, and digital dashboards with OEE tracking, while developing data‑driven systems that leverage AI/ML for continuous process improvement.

Cross‑Functional

Collaboration:

Partner with process engineering, quality, operations, and R&D teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer into production, while training technicians and operators on automated systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

To succeed in this job, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential job function. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and ability. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Engineering Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical, Required
  • 5+ in FPCB, semiconductor, or microelectronics manufacturing, including cleanroom or precision production environments, preferred
  • Knowledge of photolithography, chemical processing (etching/plating), and laser processing (drilling/cutting), preferred
  • Familiarity with MES and digital manufacturing platforms, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and design for manufacturability (DFM), preferred
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
JOB SKILLS
  • Strong analytical problem‑solver with the ability to translate complex processes into effective automation solutions.
  • Hands‑on engineer with system‑level thinking and high attention to detail for precision manufacturing.
  • Effective collaborator and communicator, able to work cross‑functionally in technical environments
  • Automation & Controls: PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Beckhoff), HMI/SCADA development (Ignition, WinCC, Factory Talk), and multi‑axis motion control systems.
  • Robotics & Mechatronics:
Integration and programming of industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, UR), EOAT design, and precision alignment/positioning for delicate materials.
  • Machine Vision & Inspection:
Deployment of vision and AOI systems (Keyence, Cognex, Omron) for defect detection and alignment verification.
