Overview

Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our Key Bank communities. The Private Client Banker (PCB) focuses on the entire client relationship with a plan‑based approach to financial advice, delivering and referring appropriate financial solutions to Key Bank’s client base with up to $2M in investable assets.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate.
  • Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide customized recommendations.
  • Deliver client solutions through referral of investment and insurance products.
  • Consistently attain individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations.
  • Build a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence; employ a disciplined approach to prospecting and document calling efforts.
  • Develop and maintain an in‑depth knowledge of private client products and services and competitive offerings.
  • Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, CDs).
  • Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line‑of‑business partners through in‑person meetings focused on client acquisition and relationship deepening.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Support branch operations, assisting with client transactions on the teller line as needed.
  • Participate in, and occasionally facilitate, in‑person morning huddles and end‑of‑day debriefs.
  • Work Saturdays as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; duties may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Education & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience (required);
    Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • Experience developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources in insurance and investment products (required).
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele‑consulting, outside calling, prospecting and networking (required).
  • Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objection, and asking fact‑finding questions (preferred).
  • Interpersonal interaction skills and ability to build rapport within minutes (required).
  • Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence (required).
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products) (required).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web‑based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key (required).
Licenses & Certifications (required upon hire)
  • FINRA License S6
  • FINRA License S63
  • FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE)
  • Life and Health Insurance Licenses
Skills
  • Knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business, using sound judgment with clients and transactions.
  • Ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time‑management skills.
  • Ability to provide expert advice on managing finances, including investment strategies, retirement planning, and tax optimization.

Physical Demands

Consumer Retail – Prolonged standing (5–8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate objects, ability to communicate face to face and on the phone, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.

Driving Requirements

Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license.

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate $25.00–$38.46 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based on skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives. Eligible for benefits – see linked benefits list.
