Frontline Leader – Welding – Technical Glass Products – Snoqualmie, WA
Responsible for supporting the welding production area and the Welding Supervisor to ensure policy, leadership, quality, on‑time, and efficiency performance goals are met. The role works closely with welding employees and collaborates with the day/swing shift Supervisors and Frontline Leaders for seamless continuation of activities and administrative support to reach production goals. This position is approximately 20% administrative with daily responsibilities that include production reports, maintenance of the MDI board, production logs, and other assigned duties.
WhatYou Will Do
- Maintains organized and accurate records for the welding department.
- Ensure the flow of materials, parts, and welds are adequate to meet on‑time requirements.
- Administer and assess periodic welding and finishing tests to keep current proficiency status.
- As needed, completes weldments and quality assessments for the production team.
- Assigns tasks in collaboration with the supervisor based on workflow and staffing availability.
- Assists the supervisor in various departmental duties including special projects and process improvements.
- Maintains a daily record of production, scrap, and rework.
- Assists the team in performing duties and troubleshooting equipment and processes to solve work problems.
- Ensures employees comply with standards and safety rules.
- Assists in identifying and developing process improvements.
- Performs production work at any station as needed.
- Conducts quality audits as required.
- Orders supplies and monitors production material levels.
- Ensures inventory accuracy in the assigned area, including cross‑training assignments.
- Assists the facilitator/management team in developing associates to ensure consistent and efficient attainment of production schedules to optimum quality, productivity, and cost levels.
- Enhances morale in the workplace and facilitates the interchange of production improvement ideas between team leaders, team members, and management.
- Interacts closely with quality auditors, process engineers, the scheduler, and other support staff to ensure optimum production flow regarding safety, quality, and quantity.
- Supports other production areas as backup to other supervisors when needed.
- 3+ years in manufacturing, with at least 2 years of finish welding experience.
- Proficiency with MIG, TIG, and thin‑gauge welding techniques required.
- Proficiency with sanding and grinding techniques required.
- Experience with aluminum and/or metal finishing required; stainless steel preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage personal and team workloads and to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Associate’s or two‑year technical degree preferred.
- WABO certification or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to perform the functions of the positions in the department to which assigned.
- Available for overtime as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including both verbal and written English.
- Good listening skills and the ability to work effectively with team members.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Prior experience and understanding of basic computer and software functions.
- Knowledge of processes, parts, and safety requirements.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack.
- Commitment to follow all safety requirements and keep the work area clean and orderly.
- Attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints, production, and technical drawings.
- Remains alert in a high‑risk environment.
- Maintains schedule and tasks despite interruptions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly in an environment where heavy work is required and where moderate to loud noise occurs. The employee is in an assembly plant/warehouse environment that can be dusty and may be working around welding operations. Overhead work may be required. There is a frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, twist, bend, lift, and move heavy objects (up to 70 pounds) and occasionally lift and move very heavy objects (up to 100 pounds).
