Description
Under the direction of the Chief of Police, manages the security team and ensures a safe and secure environment for all Tribal members, employees, visitors, buildings, properties, and Tribal assets. Oversees security operations and patrol activities to prevent theft, violence, traffic congestion, and violations of Tribal policies, codes, and applicable laws.
- Plans, organizes, and directs security activities; implements policies and procedures to ensure program effectiveness, safeguard Tribal properties and assets, and manages departmental operating budget.
- Completes reports by documenting observations, incidents, occurrences, and surveillance activities, including maintaining a daily work log submitted to the Chief of Police at the end of each work week.
- Makes timely notifications to the Tribal Chief of Police, local police, or fire department during emergencies such as fire, intrusion, or unauthorized persons when necessary. Responds to fire and intrusion alarms and monitors building alarm code access and issuance.
- Maintains a high-visibility presence among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property. Takes appropriate corrective action to address safety and security risks and notifies the appropriate Tribal personnel of such conditions to ensure correction.
- Responds to visitor behavior that is contrary to Tribal policies and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Unlocks facilities when opening and secures buildings by locking doors and setting alarms at closing.
- Conducts routine patrols of Tribal buildings and properties using Tribal Security vehicles; completes vehicle condition inspections at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Manages Security Department personnel, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary action when appropriate.
