Position: Assistant Boys Basketball Coach (Teaching Field Open) 2026-2027

Snyder High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a High School Basketball Coach for the  academic year. This full‑time position offers an exciting opportunity to mentor young athletes, foster teamwork, and promote a love for the game of basketball. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sport, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the academic and personal development of student‑athletes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement practice plans, drills, and strategies to enhance player skills and teamwork.
  • Conduct daily practices and oversee all aspects of the junior high football program.
  • Monitor student‑athlete academic performance and provide guidance to ensure eligibility and success in school.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages sportsmanship and respect among players.
  • Collaborate with other coaches, school staff, and parents to promote the football program and support student‑athletes.
  • Organize and manage game day preparations, including transportation, equipment, and scheduling.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe playing environment.
  • Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge of the game.
  • Participate in school events and activities to promote the football program and engage with the school community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (Teaching Certification Preferred)
  • Previous coaching experience, particularly at the junior high or high school level, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of football fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes to achieve their best both on and off the field.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Valid coaching certification and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and games as required.
Competitive Pay + Work-Life Balance
  • Hybrid Calendar – providing 11 additional paid days to 10‑month employees over a traditional school calendar; 12‑month employees get Fridays off in the summer.
  • NEW Teacher Pay Scale: $44,000-$80,100.
  • Up to $6,000 tested subject/core content stipend.
  • Coaching stipend(s).
  • Additional earning possibilities:
    Academic, leadership, performing arts, special education, sponsor, UIL, and athletic stipends.
  • Teacher Incentive Allotment participating district.
  • Free Pre‑K for staff kids.
  • Comfortable dress code.
Additional Benefits
  • $5,100 annually paid toward medical policy.
  • Retention Incentive:
    All full‑time staff are eligible for an additional 401(a) contribution for each 5 years of service: $500 at 5 years, up to $3,000 at 30 years.
  • 401(a) retirement contribution matching: 100% match up to 5% of your salary, vested after 5 years.
  • $50,000 life insurance policy.
