Position Purpose

Responsible for implementing existing policies, procedures, and systems involving cashiering operations and customer service functions. Coordinates, directs, and assigns work to maintain smooth flow of teller lines, adequate window coverage, and general training. Oversees provision of a full range of services (including phone and mail) to customers and prospective customers. Ensures that customers are promptly and professionally served.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties
  • Perform efficient, effective, and professional teller operations, ensuring all teller functions are correctly performed, security procedures are followed, and cashier’s checks, money orders, and other negotiable items are maintained.
  • Coordinate teller operations by assigning work, distributing workflow, and monitoring new account needs.
  • Assist tellers with questions, problem resolution, complex transactions, and sensitive customer issues; make judgments within authority limits.
  • Investigate teller out‑of‑balance conditions, institute corrective procedures, and ensure each teller balances at the end of each day.
  • Perform teller paying and receiving functions, including deposits, loan payments, and receipt preparation.
  • Maintain an inventory of teller supplies and ensure proper use of business equipment.
  • Use Windows and Excel spreadsheet applications for operational tasks.
  • Provide leadership to personnel through objective setting, delegation, instruction, and performance support.
  • Train new employees and deliver sales training according to Prosperity’s sales philosophy.
  • Monitor tellers for compliance with policy, procedures, and sales culture.
  • Track employee progress, assist with performance appraisals, and support improvements.
  • Assume the management role in the absence of the lobby manager.
  • Coordinate teller duties with related functions within and outside the branch; keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
  • Complete required reports and related documents promptly and accurately; attend meetings as required.
  • Ensure work areas and equipment are clean and well maintained; perform opening and closing procedures, including vault, alarm, and door duties.
  • Replace tellers as needed and perform related clerical functions.
Performance Measurements
  • Teller functions are efficiently, accurately, and effectively performed in accordance with established policies and standards.
  • Security procedures are understood and adhered to by all tellers.
  • Monies are balanced and any discrepancies promptly resolved.
  • Tellers receive appropriate direction, assistance, and support.
  • Customers’ problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.
  • Good working relationships exist with area personnel and management, and management is appropriately informed of area activities.
  • Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • The bank’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.
  • Transaction levels, balancing, and errors are in line with bank standards.
  • Qualifications
    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2.5 years successful teller experience.
    • Knowledge of teller operations, bank operations, bank philosophy, and basic accounting.
    • Proficiency in Windows and Excel spreadsheet applications.
    • Ability to assist with operational audits and facilitate GS3 program for tellers.

    • Ability to operate related computer software and business equipment (10‑key, money counters, telephone).

    • Collaborates with the banking center manager on ongoing development and coaching of the teller team.
    Physical Activities and Requirements
    • Talking, average hearing, repetitive motion, finger dexterity, average visual abilities, physical strength (sedentary work, < 10 lbs. force occasionally).

    Hours:

    Monday - Friday 7:15 AM - 6:15 PM. Saturday 8:45 AM - 12:15 PM. 40 hours per week.
