Patient Care Technician
GENERAL Position Overview
Assists with basic patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse. Maintains environment that is prepared for patient care. Assist as directed in providing care for patients with various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EducationHigh school graduate or equivalent; completion of at least one year of nursing school or nurse aide, medical assistant or EMT training course required. Completion of a medical terminology course preferred.
ExperiencePrevious experience in a hospital or nursing home aide experience preferred.
CertificationCNA, MA or EMT certification highly required or second year of nursing school in lieu of certification.
BLS required
Medical terminology and procedures common to the Emergency department; knowledge of applicable Federal and State regulations and requirements; basic Microsoft Office computer skills.
Personality / Interpersonal SkillsAppreciation of and the desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients optimal care.
