HSE Coordinator - Snyder, TX Location BRIEFJOB DESCRIPTION
The HSE Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that their plant has a highly functioning safety program and for maintaining, updating, and continuously improving the facilities training program for compliance with federal safety regulations, state laws, and corporate policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Facilitate the plant safety program: conduct safety and OSHA training; manage the safety committee and its members
- Audit the facility; make and implement recommendations
- Prepare and maintain OSHA recordkeeping requirements; update and report changes to Corporate SHE/C Manager
- Assist in the development and oversight of the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) program at the facility
- Communicate adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
- Manage the accident and injury investigation program by ensuring accidents are reported and investigated; lead minor investigations and assist with major investigations as needed
- Communicate with Corporate SHE/C Manager and Plant Manager to ensure plant safety and workers’ compensation performance
- Assist in the management of workers’ compensation claims and transitional work program; order and stock safety and first aid supplies
- Perform daily safety walkthroughs and address unsafe conditions and work practices
- Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed
- Review plant construction projects and provide input/oversight to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines
- Understand and apply SHE principles; perform environmental monitoring and improvements to maintain permits and regulations
- Train individuals on safety rules and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Compile and distribute plant-specific safety statistics to enhance employee understanding of safety performance
- Conduct detailed root cause incident investigations, possibly at facilities other than the assigned facility
- Participate in Lean initiatives at the assigned facility
- Meet responsibilities of a SC II/III and assist Corporate SHE/C Manager with corporate projects
- Lead Safety Coordinator Team meetings and Lean initiatives
- Conduct audits at sites other than the home site as needed to enhance safety awareness
- Mentor new Safety Coordinators and ensure they are integrated into the WL Safety Culture
- Understand root cause analysis and advanced incident investigation techniques
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and legislative requirements
- Display excellent interpersonal, verbal, digital, and written communication skills
- Be an organized self-starter with high energy; ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate strong leadership to motivate employees to improve health and safety
- Possess strong computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in reading, writing, and basic math related to the job
- Ability to use and interpret precision instruments, tools, machinery, and equipment
- Ability to work safely in a production environment; physically capable of performing job-related tasks
- Good organizational skills with the ability to determine priorities, manage time, and multi-task
- Adherence to Quality Policy and ISO 9001 procedural requirements
- Work closely with quality assurance, shipping personnel, and production supervisor
- Initiative, adaptability, and communication skills necessary for success in this position
- U.S. citizen or authorized to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than training
- Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential function of the job
