This position is located at our Axis Snyder, TX facility and prefers qualified local job seekers within 60 miles.
DescriptionThe Floor Hand is part of a 4–5‑person workover rig crew on a well service rig, responsible for performing services on oil and gas wells requested by Axis Energy Services customers. The role involves assisting with rigging up and down, pulling, and laying down rods, tubing, and casing, and performing other tasks assigned by the Rig Supervisor or designated individual. All duties are performed in a specified fashion to maximize safety while meeting customer expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- The Floor Hand reports to their assigned Work‑over Rig Supervisor.
- Assists the operator in rigging up and down, and in lining up the well service rig with the well.
- Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards, and helps attach guy wires to the anchor.
- Operates rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, and other rig tools and equipment during well servicing operations.
- Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa.
- Maintains tubing, rod tongs, and hand tools on the rig.
- Dismantles and repairs oil field machinery using hand tools and power tools.
- Cleans up spills.
- Keeps pipe deck and main deck areas orderly.
- Reports safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor.
- Ensures work follows company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Climbs ladders and stairs when required.
- Lifts up to 75 lbs.
- Works long periods of standing and sitting; may need long hours as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Basic oilfield well servicing experience.
- At least one year of rig floor operation experience.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle records.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as required.
- Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
- Mobility to enter confined spaces, use ladders or other access devices; can bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl, and walk.
- Can lift up to 75 lbs.
- Can perform tasks with protective equipment, including H2S respirator when required.
- Can interact with others in a team environment.
- Can work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic problem‑solving and organizational skills.
- Reliable telephone and transportation.
- Clears pre‑employment drug/alcohol and job‑relevant screens.
