- Operates a motor grader and/or roller in grading, finish-grading, and shaping streets, shoulders and ditches.
- Operates a bulldozer or large front-end loader in excavating earth for roads or other maintenance and repair activities.
- Operates a twenty-three yard scraper.
- Digs pits as needed.
- Cleans and performs minor maintenance on equipment.
- Reports equipment malfunctions.
- Operates other types of equipment and performs manual labor.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Education:
Solid Waste C Certification required within one year of employment. - Experience:
Operation and servicing of heavy-duty automotive and related equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. - Knowledge:
Operating characteristics and servicing of one or more types of heavy automotive and related equipment. Work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment. Traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in the operation of assigned equipment. - Skills:
Operation and servicing of heavy-duty automotive equipment and operate motor grader/roller to finish grade if assigned to that equipment. Possession of valid Texas driver's license. - Ability:
Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Make operating adjustments and to recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment. Lift 100 pounds and climb on equipment without assistance. Make decisions as needed where safety is concerned in solid waste disposal. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and City Officials.
Must have valid Texas CDL drivers license.
