Job DescriptionIEP Coordinators facilitate IEPs and manifestation determination meetings; assist with all parts of the IEP development; assist school personnel in complying with required timelines for reevaluations and annual IEP reviews; train school staff on IEP requirements; assure that IEPs are in compliance with federal and state laws/regulations and district policies; collaborate with school staff in the scheduling of IEPs.
Minimum Qualifications- Special Education Endorsement
- Lead and facilitate the IEP process in assigned school settings. This includes scheduling and conducting IEP and Manifestation Determination meetings and assuring that all paperwork is completed in compliance and on time, assuring that all staff required are in attendance and contribute to the process as expected (including completing the necessary paperwork in advance), and that parents and students have the opportunity and information to contribute fully to the process.
- Keep the Director of Special Education informed about issues and patterns that may require modification to policies, procedures, programs, curriculum or budget to meet needs identified in the IEP process.
- Support and assist SAT teams and special education staff in providing appropriate interventions and modifications for student success including suggesting strategies, resource identification, support in documentation, and opportunities for growth/training.
- Collaborate with Director, building leadership, special education staff, and fellow Coordinators to determine needed in-service training to support teaching staff in effectively meeting the needs of all students. Provide training as appropriate.
- Provide leadership, coordination and direct service in developing coordinated, effective staff development to meet the needs identified.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Standing: 40% of time;
Indoor: 90%;
Walking: 40%;
Other: varied. Must be capable of performing activities such as twisting, reaching, kneeling, squatting, repetitive hand/wrist motions, climbing ladders or stairs, and operating in unusual conditions (e.g., chemicals, confined spaces, dampness, high work spaces, weather extremes). Maximum lifting loads up to 150 lbs may be required occasionally. Vision and hearing must meet normal standards with appropriate corrections if needed.
