American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery / Family Birth Center position requiring a NM or Compact RN license and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification.
Details- Family Birth Center (FBC/L&D) unit within a hospital setting
- 12-hour day shifts, 0500–1700
- 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
- Weekends required as needed
- On-call and callback required as needed
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Epic EMR used; on-site training available for those without prior experience
- 13-week contract
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (must be issued by American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum of 2 years of current L&D experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
- English proficiency (speak, read, and write) required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Antepartum responsibilities include triage assessment for patients over 20 weeks, use of obstetric triage acuity tools, fetal evaluation, labor assessment, and stabilization or transfer of patients with emergency medical conditions
- Intrapartum responsibilities include labor and fetal assessment, preparation for delivery, administration of medications (including Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin), newborn stabilization, and preparation for scheduled or emergency cesarean delivery
- Postpartum and newborn care includes assessment of vaginal and cesarean delivery patients, hearing screens, IV starts, medication administration (Hep B, Vit K, erythromycin, antibiotics), circumcision assistance, care of opiate withdrawal newborns, phototherapy, hypoglycemia management, and stabilization of critically ill newborns for transport
- Candidates who were previously permanent staff must wait one year before being considered for a travel assignment
