Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you are an experienced Registered Nurse who combines direct bedside care with leadership responsibilities to ensure that critically ill children and their families receive safe, evidence‑based, and compassionate care.
You will coordinate patient flow within the PICU, support and mentor nursing staff, and serve as a clinical resource during high‑acuity and emergency situations.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for pediatric patients with complex medical and surgical needs. You will oversee nursing assignments, monitor staffing levels, and help prioritize care based on patient acuity, while ensuring adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practice guidelines.
You will be expected to demonstrate expert pediatric critical care assessment skills, manage advanced therapies and monitoring equipment, and respond rapidly and effectively to changes in patient condition.
As a key leader in the unit, you will provide real‑time coaching and support to nurses and ancillary staff, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth. You will assist with onboarding and precepting new team members, lead by example in delivering family‑centered care, and promote clear communication with families during stressful and emotionally charged situations. You will help coordinate quality improvement initiatives, participate in data collection and performance review, and contribute ideas to enhance patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, and the overall patient and family experience.
Aligned with Las Palmas Medical Center’s commitment to community health needs and compassionate care, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator Pediatrics ICU will model respectful, culturally sensitive interactions and uphold our values of collaboration and service. The position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to handle intense, rapidly changing situations, and the emotional resilience needed to care for critically ill infants and children.
