Job Summary
Provides professional leadership and advanced knowledge in the practice of lactation management. Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes. Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Provides outpatient care, consultation, and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties. Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient's health problems.
Education- Required:
Academic degree in nursing or food and nutrition. - Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in nursing or food and nutrition.
- Required:
Experience working with mother-baby couplets in low and high-risk situations.
- Must be currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice the profession as required by law and regulation in state of practice or policy.
- Must be certified as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- AHA BLS.
