MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Environmental Scientist to join our team in San Diego. This position could be either onsite or hybrid. Provide Environmental Logistic Support Analysis and Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) support for Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), bridging the gap between program acquisition, environmental compliance, and logistics/supply support. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Work with the NAVAIR client to support environmental logistics support analysis, including the identification of hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and environmental pollutants
* Ensure the accuracy of HAZMAT Logistics Product Database elements and collaborate with material engineers to identify alternatives for unauthorized materials
* Maintain and utilize hazardous materials databases, such as the Aviation Hazardous Materials List (AHML) and Deployed Aviation Hazardous Materials Lists (DAHMLs)
* Provide ESOH logistics input and review key acquisition documents, including Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP) and Statements of Work (SOW)
* Prepare a variety of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and related resource management or federal/state permitting documents
* Process and respond to hazardous material inquiries from the fleet, including Ship Hazardous Materials List (SHML) Feedback Requests
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental studies, natural resource management, engineering, physical science, or a related analytical field
* 5+ years of relevant professional experience in an environmental or logistics-related field
* Proficiency in utilizing supply system tools, e.g., WebFLIS, FEDLOG, and HMIRS, to review hazardous material availability
* Advanced proficiency in managing and analyzing large datasets using Microsoft Excel and Access, including performing complex queries
* Ability to write concise technical documents and reports related to NEPA compliance and regulatory permitting
* Working knowledge of environmental compliance specific to NAVAIR and familiarity with the consulting industry
Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking to identify and solve complex environmental and logistics challenges.
* Ability to multi-task effectively to accommodate various simultaneous and diverse projects within tight deadlines.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teams of staff, sub-consultants, and government clients. Security Clearance Requirements:
* Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Physical Requirements:
* The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations. Must also be able to conduct site visits and travel periodically to support NAVAIR requirements.
