Senior Accountant

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a well-capitalized finance & mortgage organization based in Solana Beach to hire a meticulous, deadline-driven Senior Accountant. You'll own key areas of the close, support loan accounting and servicing reconciliations, and help sharpen internal controls as the company scales. Ideal for someone who enjoys complex reconciliations, multi-entity accounting, and partnering with FP& A and servicing teams.

What You'll Do

+ Lead monthly close for assigned entities: JEs, accruals, allocations, consolidations, and balance sheet reconciliations

+ Manage loan-level accounting (purchase, sales, servicing, premium/discount amortization)

+ Reconcile warehouse lines, custodial accounts, and servicing remittances; support cash management

+ Prepare GAAP financials, flux/variance analysis, and supporting schedules

+ Partner with secondary marketing/treasury on hedging impacts and gain-on-sale entries

+ Maintain and document internal controls; assist with external audit and lender reporting

+ Support process improvements, close calendar optimization, and policy documentation

+ Collaborate with FP& A on budget-to-actuals and KPI reporting

Requirements

+ Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; CPA or CPA-track preferred

+ 4-7+ years progressive GL experience; mortgage/financial services required

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP; exposure to CECL, MSR, or loan servicing a plus

+ Systems:
Encompass, Black Line, Net Suite/SAP/Oracle, advanced Excel (pivots, lookups)
