What can you expect?

As the Project Manager, you will work on-site in Anchorage and be responsible for managing construction, demolition, and environmental projects, including the development of cost estimates and coordination of bid activities. You will coordinate with the Construction Management team on determining necessary resources based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.

How will you do it?
  • With direction from the Construction Program Manager, manage projects at the client and contract level.
  • Define criteria for key deliverables and monitor critical milestones.
  • Perform project cost estimating and value engineering as appropriate.
  • Ensure projects stay aligned to expected goals and deliver planned benefits.
  • Oversee daily management of field projects, monitoring field staff and subcontractors.
  • Manage logistic requirements for remote field projects.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, quality control management and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, analyze and prepare for project risks and ensure compliance with quality, safety and security processes.
  • Attend site visits to determine scope and accuracy of drawings.
  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits.
  • Assess labor requirements to decide between self-perform or subcontract.
  • Prepare instructions to subcontractors with bid solicitation information and collect pricing.
  • Solicit vendor quotes, analyze for incorporation into estimates, and assist in procurement and material tracking.
  • Prepare project estimates and ensure all factors are considered, scheduled, priced, and included.
  • Review estimates prepared by others for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Assist in developing project budgets and estimates.
  • Oversee records management of project cost history.
  • Assist in pricing change orders or additional work.
  • Maintain flow of project information and documentation.
  • Communicate data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Build effective relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and user groups.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Occasional supervision of Project Engineer/QC staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Technical knowledge of construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of construction, architectural, and building industry standard operating practices/procedures.
  • Knowledge of standard construction estimating practices.
  • Knowledge of different project delivery types; design-build, hard dollar, negotiated, cost-plus, etc.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of cost-to-completion projections.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to read and understand complex contract documents.
  • Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivation, work ethic, ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
