This is a part‑time student position that will include up to 40 hours of work across the semester. It could range from 1 to 8 hours per week. The job is a Level 2 Step 17 position, paying $15.57 per hour.

Available courses change every semester. In the Academic year 26/27, availability may include:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• History
• Psychology

Undergraduate Assistants (UAs) are KPC students who work hand‑in‑hand with faculty to enhance the educational environment and develop their own professional skills.

• Embedded in a specific course to help fellow students succeed by working one‑on‑one with students or groups, holding exam study sessions, etc.
• Facilitating conversations, discussions, and in‑class activities.
• Providing support on a specific academic project led by a faculty member.

UAs work closely with their Lead Faculty and attend onboarding and training. Availability of courses changes each semester.

A successful candidate is reliable, dependable, and committed, with the ability to consistently attend and actively participate in all scheduled shifts, meetings, and training. They communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, peers, staff, and faculty. They demonstrate a growth mindset by being open to learning and both giving and receiving feedback. They are enthusiastic about supporting their peers by guiding learning rather than simply providing answers, and they serve as a positive, encouraging, and supportive academic role model in the classroom.

As an Undergraduate Assistant, you will attend required orientation sessions, trainings, and weekly meetings with the Lead Faculty and other UAs assigned to the same course. You will also perform other duties assigned by the Lead Faculty that support your specific role in the course or project.

Some experience tutoring, coaching, teaching, mentoring, or working well with others is preferred. Typically, a successful UA embedded in a specific course has previously passed the course or taken similar courses.

• Must be enrolled at UAA with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in the semester of employment.
• Must have completed at least one semester at UAA/KPC.
• Must be in good disciplinary standing with the university.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Must complete required UAA Employee e‑Learning trainings: FERPA—Protecting Student Privacy and Title IX. Additional training with the UA program at KPC will be required.

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Soldotna. It is a part‑time student position, up to 40 hours per semester, ranging from 1 to 8 hours per week, and is a Level 2 Step 17 position, paying $15.57 per hour.
