Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm (work will also require working other schedules rting and working locations will vary as needed for the work. Must recognize the responsibility of the cooperative to its members to provide continuity of service which will require working overtime on a scheduled or unscheduled basis. This position requires the employee to be available and fit for duty during all hours when assigned on-call Standby Duty and provide prompt response to the power plants as required.)

Compensation

$55.68 hourly.

The Opportunity

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Plant Operator/Rover to join our team at our Soldotna, Alaska, location.

In This Role, You'll Have The Opportunity To
  • Be responsible for monitoring power plant operations; performing routine maintenance activities to ensure plant equipment is in excellent working order; perform minor electrical/mechanical construction for capital improvements as required.
  • Monitor and record plant operations and alarms. Conduct periodic rounds on equipment to ensure proper function and operations. Determine and/or correct the cause of alarms and/or protect relay functions.
  • Create and maintain logs and records as required to document hours, power levels, repairs, and outages.
  • Write work orders on malfunctioning equipment and complete all other work orders as assigned.
  • Operate equipment as needed to support the power plant equipment and operation.
  • Assist in the proper execution of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) to allow for maintenance activities by plant personnel or contractors.
What Makes You a Good Fit
  • Journeyman level training with emphasis related to mechanical, electrician and instrumentation work.
  • Five (5) years of work experience specific to the operations and maintenance of power generation facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a CPR/First Aid card.
  • Working knowledge of computers, electronic control, industrial electrical and mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, other auxiliary equipment and be able to apply the systems, pumps, compressors, other auxiliary equipment and be able to apply the knowledge in the daily work practices.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date and maintain a good driving record.
