About this position
We are seeking an energetic, dedicated person to fill a Charge Nurse position at our dialysis clinic in Soldotna, Alaska.
Primary responsibilities of this position are:
- Responsible for all aspects of patient care, either directly or through delegation, including new patient admissions; patient transfers and discharges; nursing assessments (both initial and pre/post each treatment); monthly nurse notes reflective of the patient's Plan of Care; initiation, monitoring and termination of dialysis per policy and physician orders.
- Completes daily rounds on all patients to ensure their needs are met, solicits, identifies and corrects patient grievances, and ensures staff delivers physician prescriptions to all patients. Uses rounding opportunities to mentor nurses and dialysis technicians in clinical management of the dialysis patient.
- Either directly or indirectly develops a plan of care to ensure each patient achieves the desired clinical outcomes.
- Either directly or indirectly ensures each new patient is assessed by the multidisciplinary team consistent with facility policy.
- Reviews data collected by the dialysis technicians and ensures the registered nurse assesses each patient pre and post dialysis and that the patient receives a treatment appropriate to meet their individualized Plan of Care.
- Either directly or indirectly completes the medical record documentation and ensures it is complete and reflects changes in patients’ condition and discrepancies between what is ordered and what is delivered.
- Educates patients so they can be an active participant in their own care.
- Participates in and assists medical staff with patient rounds.
- Communicates immediate patient needs to the medical staff in an organized fashion including information identified during the nursing assessment and important historical information.
- Works closely with and routinely communicates concerns about both patients and staff with the Clinical Manager and/or Medical Director, when appropriate.
- Ensures that all staff maintain the integrity, security and privacy of the medical record at all times.
- Ensures staff acts consistent with Fresenius Kidney Care HIPAA and compliance policies ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the FA or CM.

Qualifications / Requirements- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum 1 year in clinical nursing; additional 6 months of experience providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis (for Charge Nurse role).
- ICU experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Ability to organize with multiple interruptions/distractions.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
